Acrylics After twenty of years of painting Blue Dogs in bright colors and with hard edges, Rodrigue reinvents his classic oak tree in these loose brush-style acrylics on canvas, in bold hues, using a heavy black line to create strong, abstract shapes. These new landscapes, although echoes of his distant past, show an artist heavily influenced by the Blue Dog’s visual and graphic development on his canvas. |

Oils Rodrigue abandoned oil painting twenty years ago, following complications from chemical hepatitis. With the recent invention of non-turpentine oil paints, however, he returns to his favorite medium for some traditional landscapes, reminiscent of his early works. In some cases he includes other subjects such as the Cajun wharf or cabin, tombstones, or the Blue Dog. Prices begin at $12,500. |
